What folks are saying about Little House on the Fish Farm…
John, Thanks for the fishing tips! – Vance Albitz, SALT LAKE BEES
A peaceful escape from the city – I’ve been traveling around the country with the show JERSEY BOYS and have stayed at many airbnb properties. My two fellow cast mates and I agree – John’s house on the farm is a cut above! Total privacy and a peaceful escape from the city. The array of home-grown amenities provided to each guest was something out of a luxury travel magazine: fresh eggs and honey right from their farm, as well as oatmeal soap, and even stationery! Sequoia National Park is just 90 minutes away. Could not recommend this house highly enough to anyone looking to stay in the Fresno area. -Ben, JERSEY BOYS
I loved, loved, LOVED staying here – I was super excited to stay at Little House on the Farm before – arriving and could not have been happier with how amazing everything was. I was coming from out of state for my daughter’s graduation who lives in Fresno. I needed something large enough for six and hoping that it had a kitchen. Healthy eating is important to me and being able to prepare my own food is often essential. The house is perfect in every way and I couldn’t have felt more welcomed. There were welcoming presents found around the house to include honey made on the farm, soap made using milk from the goats on the farm, eggs from the chicken coup just steps from the front door and cards using picures of beautiful flowers from the farm. The beds and furniture are very comfortable. It was easy to feel at home while staying there. Fishing was phenominal and even teenagers couldn’t get enough of exploring. There is also WIFI, so electronics still all work while there. All of the animals were awesome, but the baby goats won our hearts. John was so gracious and brought them to us multiple times throughout our stay at the farm. I loved, loved, LOVED staying here and am so thankful to John and Janet for sharing their little house on the farm with me and my family. Could not have been happier from this experience and stay! – Sarah, Colorado
Quaint and Cozy –Even before booking our stay, John & Janet quickly answered every question we had and were able to accommodate all of our requests, including the last minute request a week prior to our stay. I only wished we were able to meet them in person. The house was a quaint and cozy home. We were welcomed with fresh eggs in the refrigerator (which tasted great by the way). The house was stocked with more than enough necessities – towels, fresh linens, soap, a kitchen stocked with coffee (cream and sugar), oil, salt, pepper and more. The house fulfilled our needs and more. We were attending a wedding in the area and there were multiple mirrors, a steamer, and blow dryers which all made getting ready much easier. As beautiful and as clean the house was, the best treat was waking up to cows, goats, chicken, and multiple species of birds. As we explored around the house, there was a sense of tranquility. It was a great escape from our busy lives back home. Thank you John & Janet! We all enjoyed our stay and if we are ever in the area again, we would love to stay again. Thank you for your hospitality. -Christine
Total Get Away – John’s farm is a very peaceful and quiet for anyone who is looking for a total get away from a big city. (Best place to relax and catch up your sleep) It is very safe the house is deep into the farm area, and it’s very clean. (safe for the kids to play and able to run around) There are , , & and of course fresh eggs every morning! Fishing was a bonus for us, we caught total of 13, ate some and released the rest. We stayed for three nights, loved and have so much fun. We definitely will return soon. – Able, California
Very Unique Experience – This property is located within a lovely farm, where you can fed sheep, ram, and cow. Very unique experience for a vacation in a farm house. The hosts are the owner of the farm, very friendly and reachable during your stay. Highly recommend. – Shi, California
Magical – John and Janet’s cottage is magical! We loved waking up to the sounds of farm-life and walking on the property to take in the wild Lilly flowers blooming, the blue heron and egrets wading and of course the baby goats! Loved, loved, loved our stay! – Lee, California
Peace and Tranquility – John & Janet host a perfect farm lifestyle living, for travelers to enjoy a sense of peace and tranquility, plus a peek of its genius ecosystem design. On the house itself, it’s very clean and well set, for family or group of friends, to spend a weekend or longer, to enjoy the country/farm living at its best! – Tony, California
We had an such an amazing time during our visit – The house was incredibly clean and stocked with everything necessary for us to have a very comfortable stay. The grounds were beautiful and our kids LOVED the goats, chickens and cows. The sunsets were glorious too. We are looking forward to another visit. – Nick and Heather
<strong>Wonderful Little Place Tucked Away – We spent 4 days at ‘Little House on the Fish Farm” and the place is really nice and well kept. We met John and he is a great guy and even took time to bring over a baby goat for my children to pet one morning. Our only disappointment was that we weren’t able to spend much time there due to a busy schedule visiting local family. We highly recommend this place if you like peace and quiet…also great if you have young children! If we ever come back to the area we definitely plan on staying here again! Also, John is a great communicator with very quick responses to questions. Thank you John and Janet for such a nice, clean place to stay and for all your hospitality!! – Jaimie
What a Great Place for a Getaway – 7 of my friends and I stayed here a week ago for a fishing trip we took on the Kings River. The house is close to the mountains and the river so getting to and from fishing in the morning was easy. Plus the cabin was nice, clean and had everything we needed. It was plenty of space for 8 guys and we were all incredibly comfortable. The fishing wasn’t so great on the river but John was able to give us a few suggestions and then encouraged us to fish in the ponds on the property to make up for not catching anything on the river. We all caught fish! John was incredibly fast with communication and honest with answering questions (in our case mostly about the fishability of the river). We ran into him a couple of mornings as he was headed out to feed his cows and he was incredibly friendly and polite. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet, getaway or a base of operations if you’re looking to explore the nearby national parks or even just the foothills. – Steven, California
Loved the Animals! – Great location … only 55 min from sequoia national park and 90 min from Yosemite … clean house, hospitable hosts and great animals.. our 3 kids got to bottle feed the goats, went fishing, watched the ram, bulls, cows, goats, chickens, gineau foul, and sheep. -Gina
Perfect Accommodations near Kings Canyon and Sequoia – We loved this stay. As animal lovers we enjoyed the chickens, goats, cows and sheep on the farm. The fresh eggs were wonderful too! We slept well and had everything we needed. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we will be back! Thank you, John, for your hospitality. -Sunny
Great Escape in a Busy World! – A modern accommodation set in a quiet working farm. Spacious property with a very well equipped kitchen that would please the most discerning cook. All the modern day conveniences and appliances at your fingertip. There is a great outdoors seating area to watch the sunset and while enjoying a glass of wine and a barbecue to finish off the evening. A few minutes drive to Sanger and an excellent supermarket for provisions. We loved our “friends” the goats, chickens, and Guinea Hen. A comfortable stay and would highly recommend to anyone considering an alternative to a hotel. – Yin, California
It is a Beautiful Place with Great Host – The house is very nice and well maintained. We had a great time here. The oranges and eggs where great. You should definitely pick this property. – Guillermo
Enjoyed the Stay! – This was a nice spacious house for our family of 4 tucked in John’s farm, and there were farm animals all around. – Puneet, California
John and Janet’s farm house was just perfect. – Our little ones absolutely loved being there with all the animals. John was such a sweet host- even brought fresh eggs over and let my daughter help feed a baby sheep. – Megan, California
Absolutely Peaceful – We were welcomed with a carton of fresh farm eggs and a bag of oranges which we used to make fresh squeezed juice. John also brought a baby goat and sheep for our 3 year old to bottle feed. John & Janet were quick to communicate prior to our arrival. They respected our privacy while we were on site and told us to holler if we wanted to see the baby farm animals again. The home was absolutely peaceful and just the getaway we were hoping for. It’s tucked back down a dirt road. The floating goat house was surprisingly as cute as the pictures. We loved watching the goats pile in there when the sun set. The little Fish Farm is a bird watcher’s paradise. We brought binoculars and loved watching birds fly around the property. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook our own meals. There’s even a BBQ on the deck. We appreciated the clean home and all the instructions + tips they left to ensure a comfortable stay. – Nina, California
Had an amazing time, thanks! – Jeremy, California
John & Janet’s place was beautiful. – You really get to enjoy what farm life us like. Their place was perfect, my fiance and I along with our friends got to appreciate the farm animals and the night stars. Loved it! I strongly strongly recommend this place. – Ian, California
Simply amazing! – We arrived very late and was accommodated very well. Our work schedule was crazy so we didn’t get to meet John many times but when we did he was very friendly and informative about the farm. The property is beautiful. The house sits back about a mile off of the main road with ponds and farm life all around. Sunrise and sunsets were a sight to see with small mountains in the near distance. Chickens and roosters roam the property but gave us no mind. In front of the house is a ‘petting’ pen (they just want your veggies haha). I roamed the farm a couple of times and came across dozens of other goats (very pet friendly) and cows and all kinds of birds. The house was very clean and well stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies galore. Chicken coup outside provided fresh eggs. Very large back patio overlooking a field of cows. I would just sit out every night gazing at the stars and reflections in the ponds. My only complaint is that I had to work too much and couldn’t spend every minute relaxing on the farm. Highly recommended! – DJ, New York
Phenomenal! – The home was extremely clean and structured, and felt very welcoming. Children loved the atmosphere and enjoyed catching fresh fish located in front of the house. The animals were affectionate and friendly, especially the two guard dogs. The patio also provided lots of space for a cookout and family time, there is lots to do and plenty to enjoy! Definitely visiting soon. – Albert, California
Always something new to discover! -Another awesome stay (our 3rd) at the little house! there’s always something new to discover, and john and janet are great hosts. – Areni, California
This location was exactly what I expected and more – Beautiful setting, clean and fully equipped beautiful home. Succulent gardens and lovely landscaped pathways surround the home. The farm animals were an added delight. Each morning and evening we relaxed a little, while feeding the chickens and goats. John left a helpful list of local establishments including details on nearby national parks which was our main point of interest for this trip. He also brought us fresh eggs and bottle of wine to welcome us on the first morning. My only regret was not having the time to take John up on his offer to tour the complete farm. Wish we had a few more days just to spend there relaxing on the deck and exploring the farm. – Denise, New Hampshire
John and Janet were absolutely the best hosts – We stayed there for 3 nights and had the most enjoyable experience on the farm. My daughter loved feeding the goats (especially bottle feeding baby goat Serena!) and collecting fresh eggs in the morning, while my father in law had great actions fishing in the pond. I highly recommend families with kids to stay here while visiting Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park because both parks are only about 45 minutes away. Between the great farm experience and majestic beauty of nature, you will be catching two birds (and lots of fish) with one stone! – Michael, California
Beautiful and Tranquil – We were a large group of 8 coming from Los Angeles. We weren’t able to get there and check in until past midnight. John and Janet were so accommodating. We met John at around 1 AM in the morning. And despite it being so late, he was very warm and welcoming. The little house was just beautiful. There was food in the cabinet and fresh eggs in the fridge. It felt like home. Since it was so late at night when we checked in, we didn’t see any of animals or scenery. It made for such a pleasant surprise to wake up and see chickens, roosters, goats, and cows right outside your window. One of our group’s favorite moments during our stay was waking and watching the sunrise while sipping coffee on the deck. We also had a night of star gazing, making good use of the telescope provided. The Little House on the Fish Farm is beautiful and tranquil. John and Janet are wonderful hosts. We definitely look forward to coming back again. – Anthony, California
What a fantastic place – A unique setting at the end of long private road, surrounded by a working farm, it was a tranquil, private, and wonderful place to stay. The house itself was nicely furnished, exceptionally clean, and very well stocked – with pretty much everything we needed to feel immediately at home. Words can’t really describe how wonderful it was to end the day on the back deck, drinking a beer and watching the sun set over the fields, while listening to the gentle sounds of the animals. Although private and quiet, town is only a short drive away for meals and groceries, and there are many world-class fruit stands nearby. We used this as place to stay while spending out days up in the National Park and it worked perfectly. John and Janet were very responsive and replied to my questions within the hour. Highly recommended. – Marc, California
Lovely Farmhouse – My family has stayed in this lovely farm house for 4 nights. My three kids are especially excited to be able to play with the farm animals all the time. John is very considerate, he even brought the small lamb for my kids to feed it. John also allowed us to eat the chicken eggs, which are so delicious. Thank you John! – Fubo, California
Enjoyed it more than our stay at the much more expensive Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite – I booked the fish house for 2 nights as a base for a family vacation to Sequoia National Park. The location was great, being only about 50 minutes from Grant Grove. There are a couple of decent restaurants in the area. We liked Schoolhouse Tavern which is about 5 minutes away. There’s also a nice fruit stand next to the restaurant. The house itself is homey and comfortable with all the creature comforts of home. We were there in the summer and the AC worked great. The farm fresh eggs were a nice touch and the whole family enjoyed watching and interacting with the farm animals. The peach tree out front was bearing fruit when we were there and John let us pick as much fruit as we wanted. Overall it was a wonderful stay, and we actually enjoyed it more than our stay at the much more expensive and overrated Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite the next two days. We would recommend this place to our friends and would seriously consider returning the next time we visit Sequoia. – Frank, California
Highly Recommend – We were a party of five adults, aged from 30 to 65, and the house size was perfect for us. John was an excellent host and went out of his way to provide us with a lovely experience including bringing over a newly born baby kid for our visiting 2 year old granddaughter to feed, along with two baby chicks. When we arrived we followed John in his truck down to the house as it is quite secluded from the main property in its own pretty area, with chickens, roosters, goats, cows, fish ponds with lovely flowering water lilies, lotus flowers and pretty garden. We were told to help ourselves to the eggs each day in the hen house and peaches on the tree. The house itself has everything you require, including board games, heaps of DVDs and so on. Everything was comfortable. A welcome pack of toiletries and some greeting cards were a nice touch. All in all, a most enjoyable experience. Great host, very quiet, picturesque property. We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay there. Brenda, Australia
You will love this place! – This place was amazing! The photos don’t do it justice. The farm was beautiful, lovely views everywhere and our kids aged 4-13 absolutely loved gathering eggs, holding the chickens & petting the goats. John & Janet were very friendly & gracious hosts, providing very helpful written directions for the house as well as great recommendations for local restaurants. John gave us a tour of the fish, lily & lotus ponds which was a real treat. The house was even cleaner & more spacious than we expected & we had a fun time having breakfast out on the huge deck. You will love this place! – Cathy, Massachusetts

Wonderful spot to stay on our way into Sequoia – Quaint, modern home set in the middle of a working aquaponics farm. Chickens, goats ,guinea fowl and cows surround you. There is virtually no noise from the outside world. I highly recommend a cup of coffee on the front porch behind the dwarf peach trees watching the hummingbirds. Great times – Mike, New York
Great Weekend Getaway – Thanks John and Janet for making us comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay at your Li’l House on the Fish Farm. The children keep reminiscing about playing with all the animals especially your goat kid, Gigi, and the baby chickens. The place was a great weekend getaway and a perfect place to rest after our visit to Sequoia National Park. The kitchen was well-stocked with groceries and your farm-fresh eggs from the hen house were really yummy :). Thanks for sharing your experiences and showing us your fish ponds and water flowers. And a unique chance to savor water lily honey for the first time in our lives. -Guru, California
Wonderful Family Memories – Li’l House on the Fish Farm was recommended to me by a few friends. Glad I listened…our trip was filled with wonderful family memories! John was an extremely generous and thoughtful host that went above and beyond any of my AirBnb experiences! The home was clean, convenient, well equipped, peaceful and relaxing. My children got to help me collect fresh eggs each day from the chicken coop. They also got to feed the sheep and cows at their leisure. John took us fishing in his ponds. This was a first time experience for my son who is now demanding me to take him fishing more regularly. We were able to catch 5 cat fish in a span of 1 hour or so. We got to cook and eat catfish for dinner as well. We also had a treat to eat some fresh crawfish from his farm as it was in season. Other than the delicacies of the farm, John brought baby chicks and a 6 day old goat for my children to play with during our stay. They had a blast and absolutely enjoyed themselves. Sequoia National park was also one of our destinations, the farm was only 1 hour and 10 mins away from the Big Stump entrance. the location was very convenient for our family as we went out on a day trip and hiked a short kid-friendly trail. I would recommend this place for anyone who wishes to introduce their children to farm animals and a peaceful and great place to stay for visiting sequoia national park. -Jean-Marc, California
Perfect for us – This house was perfect for us. We used this as a “home base” for our excursions to the national parks. The entrance to Kings Canyon/Sequoia is less than one hour away. We found the back porch to be wonderful. We spent several evenings out there. The kids enjoyed the animals, although they were a bit too young to get very close. John was very kind to us and helped us out promptly when we had questions. – Steve, Illinois
New experience – John was very friendly! He answered any and all questions that I had during our stay. The house’s A/C is some of the coldest I’ve ever had and was clutch during the 108 degree heat wave. His home is deep in on the farm and has many animals nearby. It was my first time waking up to roosters but I didn’t mind. It was a new experience. Nice house, very cozy. Very nice master bathroom! – Eric, California
Didn’t want to leave – My extended family and I traveled to Sanger to visit the Yosemite & Sequoia parks. The Sanger house location was convenient to both parks & Fresno which made this the perfect house for us. John met us and took us back to the house and provided thorough instructions before he headed out of town himself. He assured us we could contact him if we had any issues but we didn’t need to do so at all. All of the kids LOVED the house and it’s many animals they almost didn’t want to leave in the morning to explore anywhere else. We will stay at this house if we visit the areas again. – Jenny, Illinois
Peaceful and Charming – The house was so charming AND clean. It was in the middle of this lovely farm that is so peaceful AND charming! I had competition with students in Fresno so John & Janet place was a lovely choice to spend 2 days with kids far from noise and chaos. Would strongly recommend and will come back for sure when in Fresno. 10 stars! -Vanja, California
Quiet Rural Retreat – This is a modern and comfortable house in a remote corner of the Central Valley near Fresno and Kings Canyon. The property is situated not far from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and the mornings and evenings are lovely. The house is directly adjacent to a hobby farm complete with chickens and goats, and toward the back of a large commercial farming operation featuring nut trees, vineyards and large fish ponds frequented by herons, egrets and many other bird species. Access is via an unpaved road, and the property is very private. We found the owners responsive and hospitable and the property very comfortable. Large decks provide a relaxing setting for dining outside or just taking in the agricultural scenery. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in “the other California.” – James, Indiana
Perfect for us – John made us feel welcome. He and his wife took great care to make sure we felt comfortable; there were snacks on the table, note cards with pictures of aquatic plants, and goat milk soap, and John even greeted us with a large bag full or delicious oranges! Li’l House on the Fish Farm was so perfect for us! My favorite childhood books (Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder) were in the extensive library and I soon then realized the tie-in. I loved the Little House Cookbook! Our family played Apples to Apples (one of the many games they have available), and laughed the evening away. John was so kind to give us a tour of Sanger HS Agriculture Dept, as we were so interested in the Aquaponics and Hydroponics. My son had to write some poems for his college class and the gazebo overlooking the pasture provided the perfect backdrop. If we come back to the Fresno area or wish to visit the nearby National Parks, we will definitely stay again! – Maureen, California
Beautiful Scenery – This was a great experience for myself and my friends. We were a bit sceptic about spending the weekend on a farm but it was absolutely amazing. We plan to come here anytime we visit neighboring Fresno. The accommodation is very comfortable and tidy. It reminds you of a fully equipped hotel with all necessary amenities and some bonus snacks and food items in the kitchen and refrigerator. The living room was also very welcoming with books, cable, Internet and Bluetooth enabled speakers. Did I forget the beautiful scenery, mini lake/fishing area and the animals (kept in their fenced areas). -Eghosa, California
A delightful three days on the farm – My five siblings and I had a wonderful stay on John and Janet’s property. It was so fun to play with the baby goat, check for eggs each day and just relax, play cards, eat and drink and enjoy family memories. The property was just as described and our hosts were very responsive to any of our needs. We ate at a delicious Italian restaurant in Sanger. Huge portions! Had a huge feast on Sunday. The BBQ worked great. Had so much food left over we didn’t get to the Mexican Takeout that smelled amazing from the outside. We will definitely plan to pick up food there on our next trip. It was fun to see the goats return each evening after a hard day’s work and little ones would love all the sheep, chickens, cows and other farm animals. Kitchen was well-equipped and beds very comfy. All in all, this was a great place to stay for a relaxing few days. Visiting the national parks was not part of our plan however this would be a great central spot for those who have that on their itinerary. Deposit was refunded very quickly. Thanks for a great stay John and Janet! We’ll be back!! – Barb, Texas
Absolutely wonderful stay – Our family (one grandma, two sons and 3 grandchildren) had an absolutely wonderful stay at John and Janet’s Li’l House in Sanger, Ca. It was fun being surrounded by their farm. John introduced us to the goats, sheep and chickens and even let us hold the one-day-old kid which had surprised them. We spent three days there, and by the end of the visit the baby would walk out of the pen to climb on whoever happened to be sitting on the ground! We learned how to gather the freshly laid eggs provided by the chickens, and my grand -children also were able to hold tiny chicks. The home (and it did feel like a home, not just a house) was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We left with fresh eggs, a gift bar of special Goat Milk and Oatmeal soap, and many very happy memories of our wonderful weekend on the Li’l House on FishFarm. I hope some day we can return! – Janet, California

The place looks exactly like the photos, and the kids loved seeing the farm animals. We were able to reach the national parks easily, and you have supermarkets within a short drive. My four year old was blown away by the farm – John was an amazing host. He checked in on us frequently to see if we needed anything, providing local dining recommendations and bringing us local oranges. The house itself is comfortable, clean and incredibly well stocked with pantry items, books, children’s toys and linens. My four year old was blown away by the farm. He loved feeding the sheep, cows and collecting chicken eggs. John even brought by 2 and 4 day old baby goats for him to play with, which was the highlight of his trip. We were in town visiting family, but I would certainly make a special trip out here just to stay at the farm again! – Katie, New York

I would highly recommend paying them a visit! – Alex, California
The location is serene and beautiful – I booked this place for my in-laws and niece and nephew (ages 6 and 8) who were visiting for the holidays. The booking process was very easy. The hosts contacted me few days in advance to coordinate the arrival. The family LOVED the farm. I was told the kids loved being amongst the farm animals and the location is serene and beautiful and a great place to start from for a trip to the national parks. Thank you John and Janet for my family’s amazing vacation experience. We hope to stay with you again. – Anji, California
The views were spectacular – We loved the farm! It was so charming, the house was perfect and John and Janet had it stocked with everything you may need, including books and toys for little ones. The views were spectacular and pictures didn’t do it justice. We hope to be back! – Lena, California

Pick egg from the chicken coop. Place was immaculately clean, and everything in working order. We loved the experience. Thank You John. – Vano, California
Convenient to both Yosemite and Sequoia Park – This is nicest experience with Airbnb By staying at John’s house. Location is Convenient to both Yosemite and Sequoia park. The house is neat and clean; every detail is prepared. John is so helpful and we had gone fishing, fed sheep and other interesting fun activities. Will back someday… – Wayne, China
As exciting as your trip to the National Parks – This might make a difference to many people who might be looking for AirBnBs in Visalia for their trip to Sequoia/Kings Canyon: The Big Stump entrance that lets you get into both Sequoia and Kings canyon is about an hour away from John and Janet’s li’l house on the Farm. So, staying at the li’l house in in Sanger is as convenient as anywhere in Visalia, if you want to try and visit one or both National Parks. The bonus is, if you stay on the Lil’s house, your morning/evenings at home will be as exciting as your trip to the National Parks. You could also just spend the whole time relaxing at the house because there are enough activities to keep you busy for a weekend (farm animals, fish, books, BBQ, board games, card games, TV with good movies and a speaker in every room to play music). The house is extremely clean, well maintained, and well stocked. Having traveled to a few different parts of the world, I have always enjoyed my interactions with the AirBnB hosts. But none as much as the the interaction with John and Janet. First, although the house was a 7 people house, John and Janet made an exception for us and allowed 8 people. They made sure the instructions were clear and it was easy to get to the farm house. Apart from the fresh eggs and honey, the highlight of our trip was fishing. John took us fishing in his pond and taught us how to fish. None of us had ever fished before and everyone immensely enjoyed the experience. John then cleaned up a few fish, cut them and gave them to us so that we could cook fish for lunch. I’m proud to say that we have hosts like John and Janet right here in California, whose hospitality beat all of the other European and North American hosts’ hospitality. – Teja, California
We loved every second of our stay – John and Janet went above and beyond to make our 3 days wonderful. The house is adorable, clean, quiet and very organized. Everything you need is there.
Farmer John gave us a tour of the farm (our youngest loved taking care of the sheep and chickens every morning) and he taught us how to fish and left the fishing poles for us to use, which we did for many hours. He even helped us untangle our fishing poles more than a couple of times even without asking. John cleaned one of the fish for us to enjoy for dinner and added some vegetables and fruit from the farm. Best dinner ever! Thank you John and Janet for a stay we will never forget!! I am sure we will come back! -Heidi, California
Perfect setting – My family and I recently stayed at this vacation rental and we loved it! John and Janet were very nice to work with and easily accommodated our schedule. The house was very nicely decorated and updated. The farm was the perfect setting for our children; they loved feeding the sheep and goats! We will definitely be staying at this home when visiting family again. Thanks so much! – Karen, Nevada
Paradise – The Little House on the Farm is an outstanding place. The owners, John and Janet, take great pride in providing a memorable experience for their guests. My 9 year old grandson told us the farm and the fishing experience was paradise.
Entering the house, you immediately feel at home. The house is new, clean and well designed. It has a great kitchen, a dining room, living room, modern bathrooms and 3 bedrooms with comfortable beds. There is a beautiful large porch, with views of the farm and a nice propane grill. The owners generously added welcoming amenities including farm fresh eggs, fruit, honey, snacks, beverages and a gift of handmade soap and stationary.
John, the owner, took us to feed the goats, see the sheep, visit the chicken coop, go into the fields to see the cows and a newly born calf, and brought us fishing. He provided each of us a fishing rod and bait. He showed us how to properly fish. He even prepared a few of the fish we caught so that we could cook them for dinner. We used the farm as a base for visiting Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park; which was about a 50 min drive to the northern entrance. The farm greatly enhanced our vacation experience. – Andrew, New York
We should have stayed longer – John & Janet have been wonderful hosts. The combination of the hospitality, the beauty of the surroundings, the goats and chickens and the fishing turned out to be perfect ingredients for a stop nearby the Sequoia National Park. – Jasper, Netherlands
We just wanted to say thank you! We all had such a great time! Thank you for taking the time and effort to show us the aquaponic systems, for all the fishing, and for letting us help with the harvesting of fish. We had a wonderful experience and learned so much. You have a fantastic farm and we were fortunate to experience a part of it! – Mike and Lisa, California
Great stay! John and Janet were gracious hosts and the property was peaceful and beautiful. It was pleasant to sit on the deck and watch the animals grazing in the beautiful scenery. It was a short drive to the wedding of a family member. Overall a great experience! David and Yan, California
It was amazing to grill while watching the sunset – This is the best AirBnB that I have booked. John and Janet are extremely nice and proactive in contacting us and making sure that we are alright, we had an issue with the air conditioner the first day, John made sure to take care of it right away. We absolutely loved the bbq grill on the patio, not to mention the patio was huge. John and Janet also left us some fresh eggs and vegetables which were absolutely delicious and extremely kind of them. The house is extremely clean and well maintained, it was also well stocked and equipped. It was nice to escape for a few days and stay in their place. The house is definitely one of the highlights for our trip. We would definitely love to stay with John and Janet again if we get the chance and will recommend to all of our friends. – Zheng, California
A five star accomodation for a very reasonable price – This airbnb was our best experience ever. We were welcomed in a complete equipped house, superclean, tastefull and full of extra’s like information about the region, fresh eggs and coffee, tea and cookies. John took us in the morning to his fishfarm where we fished our meal for dinner. He also brought us tomato’s and cabbage from his land. And when we needed a doctor they gave us good advice and support. -Femke, Netherlands
Our new “vacation spot” – Our second trip back to the little house was just as amazing as the first time. There’s always something new at the farm — this time there were 2 calves roaming the field nearby and four little chicks that we got to hold. As always, John & Janet were incredible hosts — they shared veggies from their garden and took us out to the grapevines & flower ponds. The entire family enjoyed the stay. This is likely our new “vacation” spot as it’s easy to access from both SF & LA. -Areni, California
We would go back in a heartbeat! – We loved our time on the farm! We had guests ranging in ages from 7 to 65, and there was something for everyone! The house was comfortable, well-stocked and felt like home, and we enjoyed the farm very much! Great place to relax, take a walk, fish, and see a variety of farm animals. Who knew goats were so loveable?! John and Janet were the perfect hosts, and even brought us fresh veggies on a regular basis! If we needed anything, they were only a text away. They went the extra mile to make sure our visit was memorable. When on the farm, you feel completely secluded, but the town of Sanger is only a short drive away. Sanger has Starbucks and a nice Wal-mart, so no need to worry about being too far from civilization. We stayed 19 days, and wished it could have been more. -Amy, Utah
This is an experience that money cannot buy, John’s property was a five star agri-resort for us! Yes! The working farm setting doubles the value of his house. My favorite corner was the deck right by a meadow, where you can enjoy grills while watching the sun set. My family enjoyed everything here in the farm – kids feed goats and sheep, picked up eggs right after Ms Hen laid off eggs, fishing with my dad in John’s pond (and John taught us how to fish patiently)! The house is clean, large with well considered amenities. Definitely, my family and I will return for future fun retreat. – Huicheng, California
For a city dweller like me, it was amazing – John was a super awesome host! He gave us a tour which included fishing, feeding the goats, picking up fresh eggs, and riding at the back of his pick-up truck. For city dweller like me, it was amazing. The house is very clean and cozy. – Susanto, California
I can’t recommend The Little House enough. I had high expectations — and John, Janet, and The Little House definitely blew them out of the water. I doubt you’ll be able to get this experience elsewhere
John & Janet (the hosts): John & Janet were super-friendly and incredible hosts. John greeted me upon arrival and led me back to the house for a quick tour. The next morning after the rest of my group arrived, they gave us a tour of the farm (checked for eggs in the chicken coop, fed the sheep, watched the goats cross the floating goat-house, held a baby goat, and even taught me how to fish!). They were around to answer any questions of what to do in the area (Kings River, Sequoia National Park, etc).
The Little House: The house is spacious, modern, clean, and perfect for a small group of 6-7. The chicken coop, roosters, goats, and cows are 50 ft. away from your front door. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the side patio which overlooked the meadow & fish ponds; the large grill was a plus. The front-lawn was great for catching some sun. The house had everything we needed for our 2 nights there — plenty of towels, dvds, internet, etc.
The Neighborhood: There’s a small guide book of restaurants & shops in the area. We didn’t explore Sanger much as I spent my two days relaxing and catching some sun. There is a Walmart a couple of miles away where you can stock up on food/supplies (house has some basic spices/herbs that you can use). We went down to the Kings River in Reedley (10 minutes away), but most of it had dried up due to the drought. It’s an easy 45 minute trip to Sequoia, which was beautiful.
The Wrap Up: I will definitely come back to this gem! A great getaway — whether it’s for a couple of days or a longer stay.
– Areni, California
A perfect place to stay in the central valley – From the moment I booked our stay at the Little House I knew we would have a great time. John and Janet exceeded any expectation for great hospitality, taking time to show us around and make our stay extra special! My grandson will always remember his time fishing and meeting a sweet baby goat. The house and garden are impeccable. Neat as a pin and well stocked with basics… as well as farm fresh eggs and fruit! – Bev, Washington
John and Janet’s place was such a joy to be in – It’s a shame we didn’t get there earlier to fully appreciate the stay. Janet was so communicable and very willing to come meet us if we had come earlier. John did come out to meet us in the morning and show us the farm and animals, which was so nice of him. I also love that they had a personal package on the bed when we came, which really just made the place a whole lot cozier for me and my family. Would definitely come stay here again if I had the chance! -Ganesh, California
The little house on the fish farm was a great airbnb experience – It was in a beautiful setting and had all of the things we needed to enjoy the weekend. We were visiting for a wedding in Fresno, so we didn’t get much time to explore the farm and meet John and Janet, unfortunately. I would have loved to have had more down time. However, all of our communication was easy, quick, and they were always flexible with my requests and questions. I really appreciated that.
The house itself is cozy, comfortable, and well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal and enjoy it on the beautiful back deck. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs and honey from the farm, what a treat! Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels, the instructions left in the house are helpful and a good resource. Highly recommended! Thanks again, John and Janet! – Megan, California
Peaceful and beautiful surroundings – Wow! What a great airbnb experience! One of the best ever, and I’ve done a lot of airbnb-ing! Great hosts, super cute baby animals, peaceful and beautiful surroundings. I’d definitely stay here again. – Sara, California
Gorgeous, vibrant pastoral setting – We visit Fresno on a regular basis to see family, and have stayed in a very wide range of places: hotels, AirBnBs, VRBOs, etc. This is by far the most beautiful, relaxing, special and enjoyable space we’ve stayed in the area! The guest house sits tucked away in a gorgeous, vibrant pastoral setting of an active fishery, farm and orchard. We loved watching the sunrise and sunset over the fields, trees, and ponds, the goats & calves frolicking in the grass, chickens clucking and roosters crowing, cows meandering about, and birds soaring and diving in the breeze. We spent a day working outside on the large outdoor patio under a sunbrella, and that was really special. We slept to an orchestra of crickets and frogs.
The house itself is quite nice and well appointed, with everything you might need to stay a night (or a month!). Patios in both the front and back mean that the outside environs were very much a part of our stay as well. The fresh-laid eggs from the chicken coop near the house are also worth mentioning – we had two delicious farm fresh egg breakfasts. John & Janet were amazing hosts, and communication and coordination was seamless. Last but certainly not least, we really enjoyed learning about aquaponics from John; in fact, we were so intrigued that on the last morning of our stay we had the rare opportunity to go with John and Janet to visit the Sanger High School aquaponics lab! We feel fortunate to have learned about innovative sustainable food production work & research that John is engaged in from California’s Central Valley.
Thanks so much John and Janet – it was such a pleasure to meet you both, we so appreciate the time you shared, and we hope to stay in touch! -Chris and Sasha, Massachusetts
Thanks for the tour of the farm too. It was one of the highlights of our road trip – Thanks John and Janet for putting your property on Airbnb. Your home fit our family of seven perfectly. Everything was clean. Beds were comfortable. And the setting was peaceful and relaxing. Loved being able to get fresh eggs from the hen house. Best of all, your home is perfectly placed right in the middle of both Yosemite and Sequoia national parks. If we ever come back here again, we hope your place will still be available. -Robert, California
Our experience at the little house on the farm was nothing short of great – First off, I just want to say that you can’t beat renting a house that has fresh raw honey and brown eggs upon arrival. It’s really a beautiful house; the inside is very clean and every room had a Bluetooth radio in it. I personally like to listen to music before bed so I enjoyed that. The house has a full back porch that seats at least sixteen people and a grill if you feel like having a barbecue. We all took full advantage of that. If you don’t like to grill the kitchen has everything you need and more. The women pretty much made that their domain though. If we needed anything we called John and he took care of it right away. Overall our experience at the little house on the farm was nothing short of great. We will definitely be going back. – Ricardo, Florida
John and Janet are great hosts – This listing is definitely one of the best experiences we’ve had with Airbnb. John and Janet are great hosts. The place is so comfortable and has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. Place was perfect for our group of 7. John and Janet gave us a farm tour in the morning, even though they had a busy day ahead. Really appreciate that. They also sent us the pictures Janet clicked on the farm which was so thoughtful. If you want to spend a relaxing time away from routine this is the perfect place. We hope to come back sometime soon 🙂 -Rohit, California
I give it 5 stars; would give 6 if I could – It was better than anything we could expect. The owner personally met us and took us to a very spacious, beautifully remodeled house in the middle of a farm. We could go into a chicken coup and take fresh eggs, eat just picked spinach, watch cows wonder the grazing fields. -Inna, California
A truly unique and wonderful experience to stay in a comfortable, quiet, peaceful, new, and clean house all to yourselves on a farm. John and Janet had a prior engagement in the early evening when we arrived, but it was very easy to let ourselves in. John showed up later at night to make sure we were okay and even went out of his way to return and bring us back a bunch of delicious fresh kale from his farm, as well as coming back very early the next morning when we had to leave, and even let the girls in our group try feeding the goats.
An awesome rooster, who was so calm and never moved an inch, kept guard right outside our door sitting on the bench the whole time we were there. Delicious complimentary farm fresh kale, honey, and eggs were a real treat. A gas bbq outside in the huge deck was a big bonus to grill our ribs. Everything we needed to cook and bbq was there, including salt, pepper, paper towels, cooking oil, aluminum foil, wine opener, and wine glasses. Beds are so comfortable and both bathrooms had soap and shampoo as well as an abundance of towels. The washer and dryer came in handy when someone accidentally spilled some wine on me. Everyone in our group was so happy to have stayed there and we can think of no better place we could have stayed. Thank you John and Janet for all your gracious hospitality and all the best to you! -Myung, California
Enjoyed sitting on the large deck and going for walks on the farm – I spent a wonderful week on this farm just outside of town. The home was very comfortable with lots of books and games for my kids to play with. We made use of the gas grill regularly and enjoyed sitting on the large deck. The kids enjoyed going for walks on the farm. Living room was very comfortable and so were the beds. Kitchen was well stocked. I recommend it highly. John respected our privacy. -Robert, South Africa
Totally amazing – We loved this house, it was totally amazing and one of the best airbnb-places we’ve rented. Fantastic host, would recommend it to everyone. And will definitely come here again! -Ami, Sweden
Janet and John’s house was beautiful – When John came to greet us he showed us around and even let us look for chicken eggs in the coop! The beds were good and the farm itself was very nice. My family and I got a nice look at the sheep, cows, chickens, and the goats. The animals didn’t make too much of a noise too! They had games (Apples to Apples and Dominoes) for our enjoyment and books for all ages. I would definitely like to come back, but this time for a much longer stay. -Yan, California
Quiet….comfortable….scenic If you like being off the beaten path and and you are anywhere near the Sanger area this is the place. It’s a quiet, rustic home, and is reminiscent of my grandparents farm where I spent most of my summer vacations growing up and have many fond memories. -Jack, Indiana
The farm is a pleasure to wake up on – We have stayed in numerous VRBO properties and this one stands out for how pleasant it was. John and Janet, the owners, were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. We are a family of four and we found the house in great shape with more than enough room and with all the amenities described. The farm itself is a pleasure to wake up on and the scenery is well worth just sitting quietly on the deck and watching. The short drive to Sequoia National Park was very pleasant and the trees there were awesome. – James, Toronto
Exactly what I was wishing for – I would highly recommend the Little House on the Fish Farm. Warm welcoming people, beautiful views, and a cozy atmosphere were found on my trip. Without a doubt, I would stay again. – Jonathan, Massachusetts
Easily one of the coolest weekends I’ve ever had. Thank you for sharing your home! – Mark, Washington
A joyful and unique experience – Our stay in the midst of this perfectly maintained farm was for us a joyful and unique experience. The house is newly built, with every requirement carefully considered including soft new bedding and towels. It is well-placed for the northern entrance of the beautiful Sequoia National Park and in the main fruit tree farmland of the US. Apart from the beautiful springtime blossom, the farm itself specialises in growing lilies and farming fish. My daughter caught her first catfish there, with John’s helpful instruction! On our arrival our hosts welcome of fresh eggs and honey complimented fresh grown local fruit we had purchased at the roadside. Apart from the tour of Sequoia another highlight was being shown by John the actual contribution that the farm is making to sustainable farming, which we all found most interesting. Having breakfast or indeed dinner on the sun-deck surrounded by nature and farm animals was charming . We highly recommend a stay at this comfortable and original property, which is an excellent base if you want to be just outside the National Park. – Philip, London
Absolutely spotless with a nice deck – Your place worked wonderful for our stay. Thank you for having coffee available the next morning. It was all so very clean, I appreciated that. Wish I had more time to learn about the fish in the ponds. While a little bit off a main road, it was very quiet, no traffic. Had a very nice deck to sit on after a day of sightseeing. We were very pleased with the accommodations. -Delsa, Colorado
Amazing Experience – We were group of 7 visiting Sequoia and Kings, and decided to stay at this farm house. My initial interaction with John went pretty smoothly for booking, we reached late night and John was very considerate while collecting the keys. This is in the middle of farm, no houses surround, so you get full privacy. House was very clean, kitchen was well stocked up with grains, essentials, even farm grown eggs and honey!!! there were extra chairs, towels, each room was well maintained. They had even kept games for us to play. John even took us on farm tour, we got to see Bee stacks, grape winery, lotus ponds, and even fed goats. we really loved the stay and would definitely want to go back, we have already referred our friends too! Totally it was fantastic experience. Staying at this place was the best part of our trip 🙂 – Poonam, California
Relaxing, amazing & fun – Highly recommend this place. On property with water all around the land & a beautiful little home to stay in with no neighbors nearby. Yet the town is minutes away & Fresno just 20 or so miles. Owners are great & learning about the farm was very informative. Would definitely do again! – Mike, Virginia
The Perfect Escape – This place is awesome! Super secluded and surrounded by farmland and livestock, the perfect escape. 1.5 hours from Yosemite, 45 minutes to the Sequoias. A perfect spot for our Fourth of July. We grilled on the deck, listened to the peepers, and gazed at the endless stars. Highly recommended. John was nice and welcoming. After having a leak on my car and asking about a local mechanic, John came out to the house and fixed my car himself! Great experience and happy we came. Thanks! –Colin, California
Fun and Interesting Stay – “Little House” was the perfect size for our family vacation of 3 couples. The kitchen was generously stocked with fresh eggs and seasonal vegetables, misc. grains, and all the necessary spices and condiments. The entire house had everything we needed. It was very clean, especially considering we were on a farm with a private dirt road leading to the house. We had a lot of privacy and yet the owners were just a phone call away and up the dirt road whenever we needed anything. Wished we could have stayed longer to explore the property more. -Velma, California
Star Gazing and Bird Watching – The house is clean and fairly new. The bed I slept on along with the sofa in the living room were quite comfortable. In the living room is a large TV if a person desires to watch TV. There is also free wi-fi in the house that worked fine for me. The kitchen is fully equipped and has plenty of room to work in. The house is in an area that is almost completely free of noise and light pollution. Occasionally an F-18 from Lemoore Naval Station is heard but this is infrequent. At night there is a bit of a glow in the distance from the lights of Fresno but not enough to ruin star gazing. Not far from this area is Kings Canyon National Park. It’s about an hour drive east and worth the trip. Several variety of birds pass by here so it’s also nice to sit on the back porch and do some bird watching. It’s a nice, clean, comfortable, and quiet place to stay if you in the area. I would not hesitate to stay here again. -John, California
Country Home Away from Home! – Me and my friends enjoyed this place very much. It was close to the parks, restaurants and the highway. It fit my needs very well. Thank you John. –Miguel, Kansas
